Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our printing services, processes, and capabilities. We're here to help you make informed decisions about your print projects.

We accept a wide range of file formats to accommodate different design workflows. The most common formats include PDF, AI, EPS, INDD, and PSD. For best results, we recommend submitting print-ready PDF files with embedded fonts and images at 300 DPI resolution. CMYK colour mode is preferred for accurate colour reproduction. If you're working with Microsoft Office files (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), we can process these as well, though converting them to PDF beforehand ensures better control over the final output. Our prepress team can also work with TIFF and high-resolution JPEG files for photographic prints. Before submitting, ensure all fonts are outlined or embedded, images are high resolution, and bleeds are included where necessary.

Turnaround times vary depending on the type and complexity of your project. Standard business cards and flyers typically take 3-5 working days from approval of the final proof. Brochures and booklets usually require 5-7 working days, while larger format items like posters and banners need 4-6 working days. For urgent projects, we offer express services with completion in 24-48 hours, subject to availability and additional charges. Complex projects such as hardcover books, packaging, or items requiring special finishes may take 10-14 working days. These timeframes begin once we receive your print-ready files and payment confirmation. We always provide an estimated completion date when you place your order, and our team keeps you updated throughout the production process.

We stock a comprehensive range of paper types to suit every project. Our selection includes gloss, silk, and matt coated papers from 130gsm to 400gsm, ideal for brochures and marketing materials. For business stationery, we offer uncoated papers in various weights and textures, including premium laid and wove finishes. Recycled papers are available for environmentally conscious projects, certified by FSC and PEFC standards. Specialty stocks include textured papers, metallic finishes, and translucent materials. Finishing options encompass lamination (gloss, matt, or soft-touch), spot UV varnishing, foil blocking in multiple colours, embossing, and die-cutting. We can also provide samples of different paper stocks so you can feel the quality and choose the perfect option for your brand. Our team is happy to recommend the most suitable combination based on your budget and desired effect.

While we specialise in high-quality printing, we also provide professional design services to support clients who need creative assistance. Our in-house design team can create everything from business cards and letterheads to complex brochures and packaging designs. We offer three service levels: basic layout and typesetting for clients with existing brand guidelines, custom design concepts with multiple revision rounds, and complete brand identity development including logo design and style guides. Design fees are quoted separately based on project scope and complexity. If you already have a designer, we're happy to work directly with them to ensure files are optimised for print production. We also offer file preparation services to check and correct submitted artwork, ensuring it meets technical specifications for the best possible print quality.

Our minimum order quantities are designed to be accessible for businesses of all sizes. For most standard items like business cards, we can print from as few as 50 copies, though ordering 250 or 500 often provides better value per unit. Flyers and leaflets start at 100 copies, while brochures typically have a minimum of 50-100 depending on the format and finishing. For large format printing such as posters and banners, we can produce single copies. Booklets and catalogues usually require a minimum of 25-50 copies due to binding setup costs. If you need very small quantities for testing or samples, digital printing offers flexibility with no minimum order requirements, though unit costs are higher than offset printing for larger runs. We're always happy to discuss your specific needs and find the most cost-effective solution for your quantity requirements.

Colour accuracy is achieved through careful calibration and standardised processes. All our printing presses are calibrated regularly using industry-standard colour management systems, and we work to ISO 12647-2 standards for offset printing. We use Pantone Matching System (PMS) for spot colours when precise brand colour matching is essential. For process colour work, we recommend supplying files in CMYK colour space rather than RGB, as this represents the actual printing inks used. Before full production, we provide digital proofs for your approval, and for critical colour work, we can supply wet proofs printed on the actual paper stock. It's important to note that colours can appear different on screen versus in print due to the fundamental difference between light-based (screen) and ink-based (print) colour reproduction. We're always available to discuss colour expectations and show you previous work samples to set realistic expectations.

We offer flexible delivery solutions to meet your timeline and budget. Standard delivery within London typically takes 1-2 working days via our trusted courier partners, with tracking provided for all shipments. For addresses elsewhere in the UK, delivery usually takes 2-3 working days. We also offer next-day and same-day delivery options for urgent orders within the M25 area, subject to order completion time and additional charges. For larger orders or regular clients, we can arrange scheduled deliveries to your premises. Collection from our facility at 78 Lavender Hill is available free of charge during business hours. International shipping can be arranged for overseas clients, with delivery times and costs varying by destination. All printed materials are carefully packaged to prevent damage during transit, with larger items protected by reinforced packaging. Delivery costs are calculated based on weight, dimensions, and destination, with exact quotes provided before you confirm your order.

Yes, we specialise in variable data printing for personalised marketing campaigns and mailings. This technology allows us to change text, images, and graphics from one printed piece to the next, using information from a database or spreadsheet. Common applications include personalised direct mail with individual names and addresses, numbered tickets or vouchers, customised invitations with guest names, and targeted marketing materials with region-specific information. You simply provide us with your base design template and a data file (typically Excel or CSV format) containing the variable information. Our digital printing equipment can seamlessly merge this data during the printing process. We can handle projects ranging from a few dozen to several thousand personalised pieces. Variable data printing is particularly effective for improving response rates in marketing campaigns, as recipients respond better to materials that speak directly to them rather than generic mass-produced items.

We accept multiple payment methods for your convenience. For immediate processing, we take all major credit and debit cards including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express, processed through secure payment gateways. Bank transfers are available for larger orders, with production beginning once funds clear in our account (typically 1-2 working days). For established business clients, we offer account terms with 30-day payment periods, subject to credit approval and minimum order values. PayPal is also accepted for online orders. First-time clients are usually required to pay in advance, while returning customers may qualify for account facilities. For very large or ongoing projects, we can discuss staged payment schedules. All prices are quoted in pounds sterling and include VAT at the current rate. We provide detailed invoices for all transactions, and receipts are issued immediately upon payment confirmation.

We stand behind the quality of our work and have clear policies for handling errors. If a mistake occurs due to our production process, we will reprint your order at no additional cost and expedite delivery to minimise any inconvenience. This covers issues such as incorrect colours, poor print quality, wrong paper stock, or binding errors. However, if the error exists in the files you supplied and was present in the proof you approved, reprinting would be charged as a new order. This is why we strongly encourage careful review of all proofs before approving production. We provide digital proofs as standard, showing exactly how your artwork will print, including any potential issues with resolution, fonts, or layout. For critical projects, we recommend ordering a small test run first or requesting a physical proof. Our quality control team inspects all jobs before dispatch, but we ask that you check your order immediately upon receipt and notify us within 48 hours of any concerns so we can resolve them promptly.
